The International Foundation Year (IFY), also known as the NCC Education Level 3 International Foundation Diploma, is a UK Ofqual-regulated pre-university qualification designed for international students who wish to progress to undergraduate study at globally recognised universities.

Entry Requirements
To enrol in the Level 3 International Foundation Diploma at BRIT Academy, students must meet the following requirements:
Academic Requirements
- Completion of secondary education (O Levels, GCSEs, SSC, HSC, or equivalent)
- Passed at least 5 subjects
- Must include English and Mathematics
English Language Requirements
- IELTS 4.5 or above, or equivalent OR
- Internal English placement assessment (where applicable)

Units
Units and Credit Structure – Level 3 International Foundation Diploma
To successfully achieve the Level 3 International Foundation Diploma, students must complete 120 credits.
The exact combination of units depends on the student’s IELTS score (or equivalent) and chosen undergraduate pathway.
This flexible structure ensures balanced development of:

Unit Combination Options
Students will follow one of the approved unit structures below:
- Option A: 4 Core Units + 2 Elective Units
- Option B: 3 Core Units + 3 Elective Units
- Option C: 4 Core Units + 1 Elective Unit + 2 Additional Elective Units
- Option D: 3 Core Units + 2 Elective Units + 2 Additional Elective Units
The structure is determined by English proficiency and academic pathway.
Core Units (IELTS 4.5 to Below 5.5)
Students with an IELTS score of 4.5 to below 5.5 must complete four core units (80 credits):
- Developing English Language Skills
- English for Academic Purposes
- Maths for University Study
- Research and Study Skills for University Study
Students must select 40 credit elective units to complete the qualification.
Core Units (IELTS 5.5 or Above)
Students with an IELTS score of 5.5 or above must complete three core units (60 credits):
- English for Academic Purposes
- Maths for University Study
- Research and Study Skills for University Study
Students must select elective units worth 60 credits to reach 120 credits.
