HSC (Higher Secondary Education) represents the completion of 12th-grade education. The results are evaluated using the Grade Point Average (GPA) system. In this discussion, we will take a closer look at the HSC GPA grading system, explaining how grades are assigned in higher secondary education and how to calculate the overall HSC GPA.
HSC Grading System
GPA’s full form is Grade Point Average. See the table below for the Marks to points and grade.
| Marks | Point | Grade |
| 80 – 100 | 5.00 | A+ |
| 70 – 79 | 4.00 | A |
| 60 – 69 | 3.50 | A- |
| 50 – 59 | 3.00 | B |
| 40 – 49 | 2.00 | C |
| 33 – 39 | 1.00 | D |
| 0 – 32 | 0.00 | F |

In the HSC system, each subject is usually marked on a scale of 0 to 100, and every score corresponds to a certain grade point and letter grade. If a subject doesn’t follow the 100-mark format, you can simply convert your result into a percentage. Generally, students who achieve 80% or above receive the highest grade point 5.0 (A+). You can view your HSC result along with the marksheet to understand your grades better and calculate your GPA. Let’s take a gentle look at how the HSC GPA is worked out.
HSC GPA Calculation Formula
HSC Result GPA Calculation over seven subjects. Let’s know the GPA Calculation process. If there is a total of 7 subjects, then the calculation process will be as follows:

3 Compulsory Subject + 3 Elective Subject + 1 4th Subject = 7 Subject
First, sum all 3 + 3 =6 Subject Grade points and add optional points in sum, minus two from the optional Grade.
Now divide the Total points by 6
You got your HSC GPA on a scale of 5.00
