Summary

The L3DC is an Ofqual-regulated qualification.. It’s a general introductory computing qualification designed to build transferable study skills, mathematical competency, and a solid grounding in core IT concepts and practical computing.

Ofqual reference number: 600/6407/9

It’s aimed at both 16–19 year-old students and adult learners.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE/IGCSE ‘O’ Levels (or equivalent) with passes in 4 subjects at grade ‘C’/’4’ or above, including English and Maths
  • If a student’s Maths grade falls short, they can take a centre-set Maths pre-assessment test to qualify
  • If English doesn’t meet the GCSE threshold, an IELTS score of 5.5+ (or a pass on NCC’s free Higher English Placement Test) is accepted instead

Progression after L3DC
Graduates can move on to:

  • NCC Education’s Level 4 Diploma in Computing (L4DC) — equivalent to Year 1 of a UK bachelor’s degree
  • Various university progression routes worldwide

Typical university degree pathways include Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Networking Systems, Digital Media Technology, and Computer Forensics and Security.

Typical entry-level job roles include IT Helpdesk Professional, Data Entry Clerk, IT Support Technician, and Computer Service/Repair Technician.

Assessment
